The beauty of this message board, is that it keeps everything right here for us to look back at and see what was said. After this past weekend’s events and tackle football game…I decided to take a look at some of the old posts that everyone wrote stuff about #4 and predicted….some really, REALLY funny stuff here….pure gold.

Funny enough, The Renna and myself were pretty close to dead-nuts on when discussing Favre and his future with the Purple People Eaters….some others, not so much. Here’s just a few for your reading pleasure….

Oh, Opie…it looks like you’ve got 50 clams coming your way soon!

Favre, since 2005 has exactly ONE season in which he threw more touchdowns than interceptions.

He also has an average QB rating in December of 62 since that time.

I loved him for years, but I think its time to hang em up.

But again, enjoy. It will be a painful season, as I no longer believe (as dan would say) he is "coachable"

"Before getting too excited about their new quarterback, the Minnesota Vikings may want to take a long look at Brett Favre's lone season with the New York Jets. Despite his league-leading 22 interceptions, his statistics more or less fell in line with his career averages last season. However, these numbers begin to look a lot worse when you consider whom the Jets were playing. According to estimates by Football Outsiders that measure performance on a play-by-play basis, half the opposing pass defenses Mr. Favre faced were ranked among the bottom 10 in the league. In fact, it was the ninth-easiest slate of pass defenses any quarterback in the NFL has had to handle in the last 15 seasons."

TT is a genius. Nice season Minnesota...

Bottom line, I look forward to him sucking balls this year in Minnesota. I also predict he will not make it thru the season, Tavaris Jackson steps in and the team goes on a winning streak, and Brett re-retires (third time?) while pouting all the way home to his tractor and hot wife.

Sinister's first one was pretty accurate.

while it may have been statisically accurate, this is the line that i found quite humorous....who knew that his well-wishes, while meant malicious and smug, would come to fruition? me and renna, that's who.

You Favre worshipers are so cute! Amazing how one primadonna athlete means so much to you... Red Face

As far as my comments go, 2 out of 3 are still correct.

As for the third comment, Rodgers didnt make Farve look foolish, in fact Favre had a pretty damn good game - with a full team of players pretty much all performing well on the Vikings*

Rodgers looked a little off at times, but he does have the highest QB rating in the NFL right now. It's not his fault the O-line sucks and head butts are thrown.

I'll take Rodgers by far. He's more of a class act and a solid QB.

again, Nelly...i only posted yours cuz of this quote...

quote:
Rodgers is going to make him look foolish.

but you're right...the other things you said, you can certainly still stand by. one was your own opinion, and the other, anyone with a calendar can tell that it is indeed not 1996, so that is a fact.

but that prophecy up there...that had to be included in this little post....hehehe

Hey, my commments largely centered around the demise of Favre as the season progresses.

Time will tell. However, Favre has been better than I thought he would or could be without training camp.

I still stand by that Minnesota season will end on a classic Brett Favre melt down.

Actually, I have been more suprised than anything by how "coachable" he has seemed to be this year.

I didn't see that coming.

Still a crying douchebag, who couldn't tell the truth under any circumstance. But I have never liked him, so I am not necessarily an objective witness. If Manning or Brady ever act like him, it would destroy me.

Yes, I'm sure he totally respects good ol' Ned Flanders, I mean Brad Childress. I think Favre wants to win, stick it to TT, MM and the Packers in general. He does well when he is really motivated, everyone knows that, but it seems like the only people that can/could motivate him are Holmgren and Brett Favre.

Even if he does have a meltdown how many more games can we lose?
    No chance
    Detroit, Seattle
    Possible not probable
    Chicago 2 times, Arizona, Carolina
    Tough Opponents
    Bengals, Giants

Could easily look like a 13-3 season.

Packers still have to play, Cowboys, Steelers, Ravens. Toughish matchups with 49ers and Cardinals.

hmmmm - i'm still wondering who you think Favre was throwing to all those years in Green Bay, Nelly? (and others) Two years ago he had the same receivers with LESS experience, and in the 90s had studs like Freeman, Brooks, and Chmura - all future NFL Hall of Famers for sure!!!!!!

And I like how others keep bringing up the Giants game. Like it was so awful to make it to the NFC Championship and come second in the MVP voting (with 1 vote compared to Brady's 49 votes in his 50 touchdown season). Yet people keep bringing up THAT game in the "cold and snow". Ha! What about Favre dominating the Seahawks in the cold and snow a week earlier (and making probably the coolest SI cover ever)????? In seven days he forgot how to play in the cold and snow? Could it have been that the Giants were GOOD? Nahhhh - certainly not after being the 18-0 Patriots in the Super Bowl, and winning in Green Bay and Dallas in the playoffs!

Bottom line.....Favre makes everyone around him better - everyone. Quick release means he barely gets sacked, but throws picks. Oh yeah - and also won more games than any QB in NFL history with NO hall of famers on his offense. Not......one......

No way his arm was REALLY hurt with the Jets. No way he NEEDED surgery. He lost his fastball (tell that to Chuck Woodson and Nick Collins). He can't throw anymore! (tell that to the 2 broken fingers Sydney Rice has catching balls from a 40 year old. (reminder - Mundo is 40)

I wish people would just stop already. Or at least admit he's good and that he makes the team better than Rodgers does. Rodgers will have an amazing career once he learns to take more chances, throw a few picks, and win his team some games rather than just keeping them IN some games. Beat a team with a winning record - just one - and he'll get more praise from me.
