Due to the bracket's release last night, this thread is worth a bump up the nerd bored. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2/3 of the Earth is covered by water. The rest is covered by The Renna. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All-Time Vandelay Franchise, pre/regular/post seasons: 151-13-1 (13 seasons) Spring 2003-2009: Vandelay Industries (52-2-1), 2 Golden Lunchboxes, 5 Final Fours, 5 Division Champions Fall 2009: Vandelay Valley State (7-0), Golden Lunchbox, Final Four, Division Champions Fall 2007-2008: Vandelay A&M (15-1), Golden Lunchbox, Final Four, 2 Division Champions Fall 2006: Vandelay University (8-0), Silver Thermos, Final Four, Division Champions Fall 2005: Vandelay Industries Farm Team (8-0), Division Champions Fall 2004: VandaShock (7-1), Final Four, Division Champions ------------------------------ Hall of Fame: Vandelay Industries, Class of 2007 MUSA All-Century Team Commish's Cup: Champions 2007, 2006, 2005 Bracket Challenge: 2009 Third Place; 2008 Second Place; 2005 Winner XBox Homerun Derby 2006: O'Brien's Champion; Milwaukee Champion; Wisconsin Champion; #3 at National Finals Nelly Awards: Best Smacktalker 2005 Spring 2004: MUSA record for runs allowed in a season (5) Teams: Check the poster on your wall *** Don't hate me cuz you ain't me *** Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you, and you may call us VI. |

had a great time playing against them and the little bit of hanging out with them, they were class acts and very good players.
However, I think their idea of themselves might be a bit exaggerated... http://www.stlproteam.com/ "You Can Just Call Us The Pro Team. The Best Kickball Team In The Country is located in St Louis Missouri. The BigBallers is a group of the best kickball players that the country has ever seen. We travel all over the United States educating others on how to dominate the world of kickball. We have traveled to exotic locations like Iowa City IA, Little Rock AR, Columbia MO, and Ft Lauderdale FL. We often make an impression as the most agressive players on and off the field. If you are interested in coming out to watch us play or join us as a roadie then follow the river of tears from the competiton. The team is financially sponsored by the best kickball league in the nation "Big Balls Kickball" located in St Louis Missouri." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I sometimes play kickball |

Like I originally suspected, the worrying over this squad was exaggerated.
They are a very good team and demonstrated great sportsmanship - but in MUSA I'd say there are 10-12 teams who could have beat them. Maybe even more. Of course, they could have beat anyone too. But to think they are some unstoppable force is a little overboard. They will be invited back in seasons to come. __________________________ Consigliere - La Musa Nostra HOF Fall 2008 career regular season record: 267-103-8 GL Tourney Record 26-20 Togglers **Fall 2008 Final Four** Liquor I Barely Know Her **Spring 2009 Final Four** **Fall 2009 Hall of Fame** 2005-2009 ODF Dodgeball: 19-time MUSA Dodgeball Tournament champions |

That is a good team! 3rd base and catcher are their heart and soul. #rd base doesnt have a canon by any measure but he throws accurate and moves quick. Their catcher is an absolute game changer. when girls bunt, he would get moving so quick that he could throw dudes out going to second at an alarming 80%+ .
Their captain showed and their team showed some real class on the field too. It stops there because their "commish" was a complete tool. HE came up and bitched like a child after the game about "the call". I will start a new thread just for that... Walter - Making the "Hairy Buffalo" a trendy bar move... |

Our feeling after playing down there was that their team was a bunch of great players and good people. But we were left with a bit of a bad taste about their commish as well. However, he was cool everytime I talked to him on saturday, so my jury is still out for now.
The team they brought up was a different team than they had down in St. Louis. And it seemed to me that the team we played in St. Louis was stronger (could have just been we were playing by their rules). Also, this was actually the first time they had played our rules, I think if they had a chance to play our rules more, they wouldn't have set up the way they did. Phil (their catcher) is too talented to be sitting back in that position. Anyway, as I had said in previous posts, they would fit in as an upper to top tier MUSA team, but there are a lot of top tier MUSA teams, and anyone of them could have knocked them out, and one of them did. It was a good game, and they took it just about as well as anyone could be expected to take it. I look forward to playing against them again at some point. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I sometimes play kickball |

I think there is a deficiency in the rule that was apparent and only really applicable on tourney day where there is actually spectators to interfere with a play. Outside of what happened on that play in general where it sounds like both runners would have scored anyways, we really should look at the rule and specifically the spectator interference side of it. Also, I will say while there was disappointment in the deficiency of the rule, the discussions werent really toolish with me, just stating some opinions on how/why it is crappy as written in terms with spectator interference. |

I heard some talk of a MUSA/Milwaukee smackboard this past weekend, so as captain of the St. Louis team I thought I'd hop on here. First of all, we all had a great time all weekend. The city was nice, the beer was flowing, just about everyone we met was cool, and the tourney was very well run. I appreciate the things I've read about me personally and my teammates. There was some good competition out there. By no means did we attend so that could steal an easy championship from your league and PWW (as well as probably 8 or 10 other teams we saw or heard about) showed us that would not be the case. While many of us were not a fan of your ball or pitching rules, we adapted as best we could. As for the big "outfield overthrow rule", I understand why it was created, and my complaint isn't so much about a spectator even touching it, but simply the fact that the ball is stay in play when it is behind the backstop/benches. We just weren't aware and thought it was a little ridiculous. With that said, my outfielder threw it there and we paid the price. Thanks for letting us participate and we hope to see you guys in future tourneys. BTW, the "pro team" (and our website) is just a name coined by our commish and none of us actually get paid or think we're the greatest kickball team ever.

STL Captain...you guys were a class act organization, exactly the sportmanship we look for in our tourneys. There was nothing wrong with complaining about the call, it's a questionable rule as it's written and I would have been pissed off too. The ump called it right, just a tough situation overall.
In the off season we are going to look at possibly modifying this rule along with a few others. Hopefully you guys will make the trip again next Spring. __________________________ Consigliere - La Musa Nostra HOF Fall 2008 career regular season record: 267-103-8 GL Tourney Record 26-20 Togglers **Fall 2008 Final Four** Liquor I Barely Know Her **Spring 2009 Final Four** **Fall 2009 Hall of Fame** 2005-2009 ODF Dodgeball: 19-time MUSA Dodgeball Tournament champions |
