Just out of curiousity, what is a reasonable amount of time to call games on or off? We will generally hold onto hope that conditions will work unless it is painfully obvious games are off or field contacts get a hold of us, erring to trying to get the best info vs just cancelling at the drop of a hat. With the amount of rainouts this year, its even more important to try and get in whatever games we can. Not trying to be an ass here, just looking for some feedback.

Carlos from Burnham calls me at like noon on rainy days to tell me the field conditions, and his input as to whether or not we're going to play.

It's a good idea to establish a good relationship, as a monitor, with the fields crew.

I'll let my teams know the second that I find out.

And I did the same thing with the Mitchell fields crew.

I would prefer anywhere from 6 - 37 days.

That should give you plenty of time.

I assume its the same in Sconny as over here, and we're basically at the mercy of the "parks" system as to when games are called. Sure, there are the SALLIES out there that cry when a drop falls from the sky, but there are also those of us who will basically play in anything.. I understand them not wanting us to destroy their fields, I guess...

All the more reason to build the goddamn Kick-O-Plex already so we can be done with this damn "weather" debate.

Get on it.

Yeah, I think it was handled well yesterday. I knew by like 4 that my game was canceled and that was nice.

But what about today. The rain is supposed to hold off until the early evening (right around when games start of course). So shouldn't MPS know whether they are calling games for tonight? It's definitely going to rain tonight from the look of the weather radars.

The VFW and Pulaski look like crap as I checked em out this AM but we are trying to get alternate sites to get some of those games in. I have yet to hear how Wick or Sijan looks though. When we get word we will let you know cuz it seems to be more an issue of how bad fields currently are vs whats to come. i dont think its supposed to rain too bad today but thats what the douchebag weatherfolk said last friday and how did that work out?

We prefer to know as early as possible because it takes some people on my team over an hour to drive into Milwaukee.

Is there a way to send mass text messages out to the captains (or everyone) when games are canceled? Or maybe that system is already in place?

They work on the fields though out the day and try and get them ready. If they can't get them ready they call them. not sure where we are failing on letting people know in a timely manner, especially when we don't have the final say most of the time. Also Hawk, I believe it was last week or maybe the week before it rained most of the day and games were still played. Just because it is raining doesn't mean games are automatically canceled. Has a lot to with the amount of rain and how well the fields take the the rain.

This one was particularly disappointing. Doug E Fresh and I get the call literally at 5:55pm (at the earliest).

Coach Dan was all over this on Friday, so I know this is 100% not MUSA's fault.

I tried bracing the teams for the bad news, cuz all the warning signs were there. No field guys, no bases, lines were there but not fresh, standing puddles...

What sucks is that we had 2 teams there, and ready to play, only to be turned down at game time. They had to have known earlier, cuz they sure let their field guys know to not come down.

At least the teams got to get in a few innings of sweet pickup game action.
