I am all for some old fashioned snow ball fights, fully equipped with Fortresses. Search and destroy missions, recon and solo missions.

sock hockey.

"Sock Hockey involved spraying Pledge furniture polish all over the floor to ease one's ability to slide across the floor in stocking feet."

road hockey

"We played road hockey because our parents couldn’t afford to give us skates or even a real puck."

I read that, and sort of got it. Something about stuffing cats in drawers, which sounds fun.

Actually, I'm having trouble getting past the words 'sock hockey' without giggling.

Why not kickball in the snow? I think I could kick it a lot further with my moonboots.

The cold air would do wonders to our lungs - hacking up beer lugees. Would not need a cooler for the beer. Hot shots would take on a new twist!!

It sure would be interesting trying to throw the ball with mittens or gloves on. The BIG RED BALL would take on a different nature in the cold crisp air , it might even pop when someone kicks it hehehehehe big grin big grin

Snow worthy Floor Hockey may be the winner for most wanted Kickball off season sport...

Here is the first proposed suggstion I have received for Floor Hockey...

Need
=======
hockey sticks (Wal-mart or K-mart sells these for around 10 dollars. Get the ones with plastic bottoms for street hockey)
orange rubber balls or tennis balls
Two nets or
makeshift wooden rectangular nets

Venue
======
Tennis courts

Rules
======

To keep the game safe,

1> we should limit or outlaw checking

2> No slapshots, only wrist shots or snap shots allowed in close quarters

3> might make sense not to have goalies and maybe players can only shoot at the net within 10 feet of the net!!

4> Can't raise sticks above hip level

What do you think? Of course we can change these rules if people are not having fun. We could enforce offsides just to make sure people don't stand around waiting for the breakaway pass.

If no one has everplayed broomball I suggest you ask some of our Minnesotan friends about just how fun it can be. That's where I first played. It's the best winter recreational/drinking related sport there is. I can see it being another MUSA hit. Any thoughts?

There are several webpages that have the rules listed so if you want to surf around just type 'broomball rules" or see the link below. Basically it's like hockey but with broom sticks and a ball instead of hockey sticks and a puck. Instead of skates, players where boots or shoes. The only problem is the ice rinks. At the University of Minnesota-T.C. they would flood the sand volleyball courts and convert them to broomball rinks. I think we may have a hard time finding a place to play in Milwaukee. Let me know what you think.

Perhaps we could entice some bars with volleyball courts into flooding them for broomball with talk of hundreds of guaranteed heavy drinkers on a weekly basis for the better part of the winter. Doesn't that place right on Locust and Humboldt have courts out back? Wick peole, any bars on that side of town that come to mind?

have some area parks that they flood for Ice skating, Broom Ball and Hockey and some of the parks have ponds that are used for the same use. This would have to be a very flexiable event or just a tournament situation with the LOVELY weather changes and all that we have here in WI.

So check out Milwaukee County Parks Winter FUN for more info. cool

GAME ON!!!!!! big grin

Tennis courts would work Pulaski Park has two...

Wick has a few too...

That way we could keep it our existing parks and sponsor bars.
